AMGEN IN PUERTO RICO
A strong business climate and mission-focused spirit thrives on the island of Puerto Rico. For more than 26 years, Amgen has made a bold and courageous call there, activating a workforce that isn’t afraid to face challenge and do big things. It all happens at the Amgen facility located in Juncos, in the eastern-central region. Known for its outstanding quality and compliance record, the Juncos facility also has forged meaningful relationships with the community, government, and academic institutions.
PIONEERS WITH PURPOSE
Amgen puts patients first. Everything we do is centered on breaking new ground so they get the medicine they need to do more and be more. The Amgen manufacturing campus in Puerto Rico is crucial to this purpose. There, you’ll find:
· Process development laboratories
· Recombinant protein production and purification (mammalian and microbial)
· Full-testing quality and analytical laboratories
· Formulation, filling, and packaging capabilities
· Water treatment plant / co-generation plant
· Administration and training facilities, cafeteria, child care center, and gym
OUR PASSION FOR COMMUNITY
Amgen has true heart for the communities in which our team members work and live. In fact, we’ve developed a dedicated Amgen Foundation to which we’ve invested more than $15 million to support science education, health and medicine, and community programs right here in Puerto Rico.
Through Amgen Foundation’s Matching Gift Program, our team members are given the opportunity to show even more love to their favorite charities. The Foundation matches every dollar donated by full-time Amgen staff members—from $50 to a cumulative total of $20,000 annually—to eligible nonprofit organizations.
We’re equally invested in supporting local schools and training programs throughout Puerto Rico. As we build the next generation of dreamers and doers, we partner with the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and Humacao to establish training programs in biotechnology manufacturing. Through both monetary and equipment gifts, we were able to create the Amgen Biotechnology Learning Center at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, a place where students can learn, imagine, and make a difference alongside top educators.
Enabling students in their pursuit of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education matters to us. And we continually look to support local nonprofit organizations that use these disciplines to grow a better tomorrow.
